Mind-Body Connections

Our Child Evaluation Process

Partnering with Parents: Initial Consultation

The evaluation begins with a thorough, supportive conversation with you to understand your concerns, your child’s history, and your hopes for the assessment. This conversation helps Dr. Lovinger and his licensed associates design an evaluation plan tailored to your child’s needs.

Please bring all prior evaluations to this meeting

Overview of the Assessment Process

The evaluation may include the following components, as appropriate:

  • Child interview
  • Cognitive and achievement testing
  • Behavioral and emotional assessments, including direct observation and standardized measures
  • Parent and teacher questionnaires
  • Review of educational records and previous supports
  • Developmental assessment of milestones and growth patterns
  • Targeted assessments for specific concerns (e.g., attention, learning, social functioning)
  • Consultation with relevant school or clinical personnel
  • In-class or home observation, if required

Results and Recommendations

After the evaluation, Dr. Lovinger will meet with you to review the findings, provide recommendations, and address any questions. If requested, a written report will be provided, summarizing the results, any relevant diagnoses, and specific recommendations for home, school, and support providers. This report can be used to guide next steps and access appropriate services.

You will receive a detailed written report documenting findings, diagnoses (if applicable), and specific recommendations for home, school, and potential support providers. This report serves as a roadmap for moving forward and a tool for accessing appropriate services.
