Adavced Therapy Center

Mark Lovinger, PhD, MSCP

A clinical psychologist by training, I have been in clinical practice for more than three decades, conducting child and adult assessment and treatment, and individual, couples and family therapy.  Prior to opening Advanced Therapy Center, LTD in 2008, I accumulated extensive training and experience, first interning on inpatient and outpatient units at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York, then completing postdoctoral work at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, and later serving as an Assistant Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics.

These experiences, in addition to a PhD degree from Case Western Reserve University (Ohio) and a Master of Science in Clinical Pharmacology, (MSCP) from Alliant International University (California), have enabled me to provide comprehensive and targeted therapeutic care to my clients.  More recently, I have focused my practice in helping clients navigate marital and divorce related issues, while specializing in parent coordination, mediation, child custody and parenting evaluations, forensic evaluations, and collaborative divorce. In addition, courts request my assistance in the role of a Parent Coordinator or custody evaluator.

I continue to develop my knowledge base and share skills with colleagues by attending weekly peer review and case conferences, offer consultation services on analysis of psychological testing data and records, assistance with case strategy and cross-examination of experts, as well as second opinions on clinical issues.  Currently, I serve on the education committee for the Ohio Association of Family Conciliation Courts, and I am in the process of developing a standardized curriculum to train future custody evaluators.  I have maintained an adjunct faculty position in the Dept. of Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and at Hillcrest Hospital/ Cleveland Clinic. I am also a frequent guest lecturer and presenter to law and medical students.

My mission throughout all my work is to provide optimal therapeutic care, apply not only evidence-based therapies, but also create novel interventions suited for each person’s individual needs and strengths. Every person that I am privileged to work with in my practice is treated with dignity and respect. I am fortunate to study with and learn from exceptional mentors, and I continue to be humbled by the complexities of new mental health challenges.
